In The Payroll Officer delivers high quality,
client focused and operational payroll services
to clients within QUT and works as a dedicated
team to perform a broad range of duties
relating to the fortnightly payroll functions
within the University.

This position reports to the Senior Manager,
Insurance and Payroll Services for supervision,
workload management and for Performance
Planning and Review (PPR).

Key responsibilities include:

Provision of client focused, quality service

through the delivery of timely and factual

guidance, and information to managers,

staff, students and external bodies on less

complex payroll policies and procedures.

Undertake a range of payroll-related

administrative processes, including but not

limited to maintaining corporate records.

Undertake a range of payroll processing

functions including full end to end payroll

function in line with QUT and legislative


Undertake a range of the HR functions and

data entry into the HR/Payroll system.

Proactively attend to pay enquiries in a

timely and accurate manner in line with

QUT policy and procedures, whilst

ensuring quality service delivery is

provided and service level timeframes are


Actioning payroll related reports for

fortnightly and monthly requirements of the

payroll function.

Proactively keep your knowledge portfolio

updated on payroll related legislative and

QUT requirements.

Ensure that the Human Resources

Management system (HRM) data is

updated and maintained accurately so that

management information can be provided

as required to client groups and managers.

Compliance with health and safety

policies, procedures, hazard reporting and

safe work practices.

To ensure job flexibility the successful
appointee may be required to:

perform any other duties as nominated by

the University consistent with the relevant
classification descriptors detailed in the
Enterprise Agreement. Staff undertaking
any new duties will receive training;

participate in job rotation or multiskilling in

consultation with their supervisor;

work across campuses

This appointment will be offered on an

ongoing, full-time basis.

Selection Criteria
1. Education, training and/or relevant payroll

processing experience equivalent to the
completion of a degree.

2. Proven ability and knowledge to maintain,
uphold, keep updated and understand all
legislative and QUT EA requirements
relating to Payroll Services.

3. Demonstrated ability to enter data with a
high degree of accuracy for fortnightly
processing on a large, complex HR/payroll

4. Demonstrated experience in client focused
service environment, with excellent
interpersonal and verbal communication
skills with the ability to quickly establish
rapport, manage collaborative working
relationships and engage with diverse
client groups.

5. Ability to work as part of a team, multi-task
with limited supervision in a high pressure
and time sensitive environment.

6. Demonstrated record of problem solving
complex customer service issues with a
high level of attention to detail.

Remuneration and Benefits

The classification for this position is Higher
Education Worker Level 5 (HEW5) which has
an annual remuneration range of $82,661 to
$93,203 p.a., which is inclusive of an annual
salary range of $70,650 to $79,660 p.a., 17%
