Why our team needs you
Our People and Culture department are currently looking for a Health Safety and Wellbeing Business Partner to join their team. The Health Safety and Wellbeing Business Partner is responsible for strengthening and building health and safety capabilities throughout the organisation with an emphasis on supporting the safety and wellbeing of Council’s employees, councillors, contractors and volunteers.
As a role model for Health and Safety, the position is a key agent for positive change in safety performance and culture within the organisation. The position will consult with key stakeholders to provide advice, support and education that encourage initiatives leading to a safer working environment.
What you’ll bring to our team
Certificate IV or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and/or less formal qualifications with extensive Health and Safety experience
Partner with and support employees and leaders of Yarra Ranges Council on matters pertaining to Health, Safety & Wellbeing
Facilitate Health & Safety training and internal safety audits
Review and maintain HSMS documentation, data and compliance management
Show great time management and prioritisation
High level interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customer and stakeholders
Be flexible and adaptable with the ability to work autonomously
Knowledge of, and pragmatic experience in, the health, safety & wellbeing field; safety generalists welcome; specialists should demonstrate how their experience translates
Sound knowledge of the work health and safety legislation and regulations
Experience in conducting and/or participating in incident investigations
Sound understanding in the creation and use of documents such as the Task Risk Register, SWMS, SWPs and Risk Assessments
Experience in development and implementation of Health, Safety and Wellbeing strategies, initiatives, policies and procedures (beneficial but not essential)
Safety Map or other external audits (beneficial but not essential)
